We are three sisters working to get into or stay in shape! Ara is the oldest (26) and is trying to lose weight and get in shape before having children with her husband. Carlyn is the middle child (23) her desire is to get in shape and have the endurance to keep up with the youth she works with. Emmalee is the youngest (17) and is already an athlete. But now her sport and time is high school is almost over and she wants to stay in shape!
Our blog is a way for us to encourage each other and help each other reach our goals. Please feel free to follow along! You can follow each sister or just the one you find interesting or have things in common with!
Ara's days to post are Monday and Thursday. Carlyn's days are Tuesday and Friday. Emm's days are Wednesday and Saturday.
And we'll throw in tips and fun stories as we go along! Welcome to our blog!! -The 3 Sisters
p.s. We would also like to say that this is to help encourage us to keep up the good work and help us stay on track BUT we know we could not even do this by ourselves or as 3 sister's with out God by our side pushing us along!
Well, at work today, there was a BIG Chocolate Cake in the kitchen area for anyone to eat from. Several said that someone who wanted to win the BIGGEST LOOSER put the cake out to temp others. Well, even though I am not a part of the company loosing team, I avoided the cake. Hope that you 3 girls had a successful day also!! Love ya, Mom
So…. At my office they started the Biggest Loser competition. I received the flyer and read it over and thought about it, BUT I DON'T want to be judged daily for what I eat and weigh by the same people that judge my work ability. Work is enough pressure! And I didn't want to toss in 25 of my dollars for someone else to win.
Mother - 3Daughter Challenge
I would rather work with and support my 3 daughters in a weight loss challenge. So, as the Mom, I propose that I toss in $25 for each member of our team - 4 - so $100.
The Challenge for Yvette, Carlyn and Ara DiAnn is to lose as much weight, in a healthy fashion, by Dec. 19, 2010. Our official starting date will be this Sun. Aug. 8, 2010. Emmalee's part of the challenge is that she NOT gain the Freshman 15 from her wrestling weight of 148. (Emmalee has already agreed to this and she wants to be in full support of us loosing.)
Things to do: Weigh in Sun. Aug. 8 or Mon. 9th and send text to Mom.
(I don't care if we share with each other, just not publicly)
Watch what we eat - how much we eat - drink water.
Find an exercise routine that works for you.
Set you own goal - make it realistic - 5 to 10 pounds/month
Continue to support each other in prayer
Commit to write on the blog at least once a week.
Write accomplishments and failures on this blog
Share any helpful advise through the blog.
On Dec. 19th we will all weigh in and send text to Mom. By using % calculations for loosing and gaining, I will determine the winner and the $100 will be in their Christmas stocking.
I have ordered some materials that I will share with each of you through private e-mails only because it is purchased materials. We can share the results of our use of these materials. When they come in, the first thing I will share is a "Metabolic Typing Test" for us each to take. It will help us learn about what type of foods & eating habits best satisfy us. We could all be the same or all completely different.
Your Dad will benefit from my change of cooking and shopping habits and he will really like that. Kevin should benefit too for the same reasons. I also think both men should take the Metabolic Test, then we can supplement foods that will help them be satisfied.
It is about time that "the MOM" set a good example in the eating area. I am ready physically and mentally to take this challenge with you.
So, let me know if you are willing to take the Challenge together.
Yes I am still alive! I have not been on here in a long time, but it is about time! And I am really excited to continue this journey to a healthier life style with my mom and sisters! This is Day One of my "new" journey - I know it had technically started already - but His mercies are new every morning and so is my life's journey :)
Got off of work this morning - later then I was suppose to (again)...
And have decided to do Pilates before I go to bed each morning - This mornings wasn't bad - my core is more sore than I thought it would be, but then again, that is my weakest area and this pilates targets the core! So I guess it workout did its job!
I plan to go to the gym after I wake up and told my roommate (who is also working out getting ready for rugby) that she is allowed to kick me if I don't go (and yes she really will kick me!)!!
I am also planning on putting together a workout/food journal to keep me on track and motivated! It worked in the past, so I am going back to what has worked for me!
So that is the plan for my NEW DAY ONE! Let the Journey begin!!
Love ya, C
(PS - not my current roommate in the pic, but she too will kick my butt (sorry mom) if I don't start working out - all the way from Peru - she should be working out too :) ) Miss you!!!
I love working out and i love to watch my muscles move when i lift weights... is that bad thing?!?! hahah
Any way i getting back into the routine of things and have to remind myself to take it slowwwwww.... my knees are doing really well right now so maybe im getting the muscle around them strong enough to keep them all together ;)
I have also been good on my vegetarian diet and i can see that i feel lighter and not as full all the time. my stomic hurts less and if you know mee... less gass is around... hahahah
I am very proud of my sisters and i want to say dont think about the scale number but remember your doing this for yourself and it will be worth it in the long run!
I LOVE YA
post more after my routine gets back in shape hahaha
So I have been working out everyday for the past two weeks. Almost everyday for at least 45 minutes on the elliptical machine...... and I have not seen even 1 pound lost!!!
What the heck?
Now I know the "muscle weighs more than fat" thing but really??? not one pound difference???? how is that even happening?
And I've been eating right too..... its just frustrating!!!
You all know the story of David and Goliath right? The classic biblical story of the young David standing up to the Giant Goliath and knocking him cold by slinging a smooth stone into the center of his forehead.......
Well that was the focus of this past Sunday's lesson and the teacher (my hubs) asked the question: "What is your Goliath?"
Instantly I knew my own answer to this..... my Goliath is my weight. It always has been. It's shaped my personality ever since I was in 3rd grade and a little girl laughed at me having a belly in swim class. It's something that's been on my mind every day since that day.
Every room I walk into, there is my Goliath shouting "You're the fattest one in here! They all think you're disgusting! No one here wants to talk to you or hear what you have to say! Just sit down and think about how fat you are!"
What an incredibly rude Goliath.... don't you think? But he has won every battle I have waged against him. And don't you think David would have lost to Goliath as well if he had tried to fight him on his own strength? I think so too.
So why did David win? Because God fought with him. God guided his hand in finding the right stone, in slinging that stone forward and in hitting that giant right where his weak spot was. And not only that..... then he cut off his head!!! Why.... so he would never get up to fight again.
SO.... don't you think .... I mean don't you know that with Gods help we can all defeat the Goliath of weight. It doesn't mean God's going to do it for us..... it means He will help us find the right food, the right exercise and the right time to hit our weight right in the weak spot and be done with it forever. Hallelujah!

All this week I have been replaying the story of David and Goliath in my head and it has been the basis of my prayer life with God. And this week God has helped me exercise every single day.... burning around 500 calories each time. I still weigh WAY more than I would like..... but I know that this is going to be a slow battle. But this time I know that we will win the WAR with God by our side. Doing it by myself I had no idea what the outcome would be. But now that I know I can face Goliath and say, "This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down, and cut off your head". (1 Samuel 17:46)
